Over the last two decades organizations have seen a fundamental shift inmanagement style. Roles have become more customer orientated andknowledge based with the need to work as a team. This has resulted inindividuals having more overall autonomy, even at fairly low levels withinorganizations.This has created organizational cultures that are less autocratic with only afew levels of management. The very nature of such organizations hasallowed those with highly developed social skills to be as successful asthose who excel academically.
